Have you seen the crane crashing through the roof of that house in Wigan? That child on the driveway had a lucky escape.

It looks to me that a container wagon was dropping off or picking up a container and it lost control. that kid playing in the fron was very lucky indeed,

Well, it wasn't in Wigan, but looking at Tommy's link, it looks like it was possibly driver error in that the wagon driver may have taken a turn a little too sharply, kicking the truck out of balance with the extra weight on the back, and resulting in the crane tipping over. It doesn't look like the lorry overturned according to the picture. Or, the weight of the crane was too heavy for the truck and that went first. Chicken or egg situation?

However it happened, Health & Safety will be on the job to assess what happened, especially as that child is lucky to still be alive.

I think it was only a small container and the problem could be outrigger failure. Who knows?

Indeed it could, Tonker, but it said the lorry was carrying the crane which in turn was lifting a shipping container, so perhaps the weight alone was enough to tip the lot off the lorry. Like you say though, we'll never know.
